The removal of a portion of smaller branches, typically around the outer crown. This does not alter the size or shape of the tree but is usually completed to allow more light to pass through, reduce wind resistance and weight to make the tree safer and extend its life.
The removal of the lowest branches and an effective method of increasing light to areas directly around the tree, to improve its appearance and to provide better access.
This reduces the height and/or spread of the crown. By doing this the tree can be managed to fit into its surroundings, improving its appearance and can increase light. It also reduces mechanical stress, making it safer and extending its life.
Pruning a young tree enables it to mature without major problems/weaknesses. This includes ensuring the tree has one central trunk and removing crossed, weak and/or any competitive branches.
This involves cutting the tree from ground level and letting in fall into a desired space. If this cannot be achieved because there are buildings nearby, the tree can be dismantled. Please see Tree Removal (Dismantling).
This is the process of cutting the tree by climbing and removing smaller sections from the top down. These smaller sections are lowered with a controlled fall or with the help of ropes in a controlled manner.
This involves clearing everything to ground level in a designated area. This is usually done when a site is being used for development.
We can plant, train, shape, cut back, regenerate or remove.
The removal of stumps approx. 6” below ground level using a stump grinder or the complete removal of stumps with a digger.
In the past, pollarding was predominantly used to remove the top of the tree to encourage multi-stem branching; traditionally for fodder, firewood or to produce poles. It controls the size of a tree, keeping the trunk to about 1.8m high and maintains a distinct uniform shape.
This is the process of cutting down (traditionally Hazel and Sweet Chestnut) 300mm off ground level to promote the growth of stakes. Much like pollarding but at ground level. It’s a traditional method of creating poles and easily assessable firewood of manageable size.
We can help you replant/plant any size (within industry norms) and species of tree.
If one of your trees has a weak union, it may be worth considering bracing the tree to ensure its stability. There are a variety of bracing / cabling options, all of which intend to support the tree and reduce the risk of failure.
Storms can cause a wide range of issues for your trees depending on the duration and severity of the storm. Possible damage can include but is not limited to:
– Stem Failure
– Root Failure
– Branch Failure
– Wind Blown Trees
– Crown Twist
– Lightning Damage
This includes any tree work that requires attention urgently. It might be that a tree has been blown into a road, has fallen on the house, landed on a fence or branches that are dangerously hanging. If you feel you have a tree / branch that causes imminent danger, please do contact us as soon as possible. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency work.
